Former wefox Insurance CEO Oliver Lang joins WeGroup’s board of directors
WeGroup is a Belgian insurtech company that helps insurance providers, ranging from local brokers to some of the world’s biggest insurance companies and banks, to digitise and accelerate their distribution process. Via the WeGroup platform, intermediaries or embedded third parties can generate new leads, analyse need and risk profiles and link them to the most fitting insurance solutions.
With this proposition, the company was not only able to convince over a 1000 brokerages, agencies and carriers all over Europe, but also ensured 7 million euro in funding. They were equally able to attract valuable industry experience, such as former Aviva COO and Head of Insurance Markets for the French Treasury Ayméric Oudin. Now, WeGroup adds another sounding name to their Board of Directors with Oliver Lang, who was until recently CEO of wefox Insurance, one of the largest insurtechs on the planet.
“With Oliver on board, we are taking another step in our pan-European and global ambitions. Next to a lot of industry experience, most recently at wefox, and a vast network, Oliver is also bringing valuable learnings as an entrepreneur and founder. We are convinced he brings all we need to accelerate our growth even faster” explains WeGroup CEO Arvid De Coster.
Lang himself sees great potential in WeGroup’s business. “I have always been passionate about startups and venture-building. In my eyes, WeGroup has all it takes to reach the absolute top. The scalable product addresses some of the industry’s biggest challenges and is aligned with both current and future trends. On top of this, I see a very motivated and talented team that was able to achieve impressive growth so far”, he declares.
As to potential competition between wefox, Lang’s previous employer, and WeGroup, both De Coster and Lang were very clear. “Other than our name, both companies have little in common. Wefox is an insurance carrier whereas WeGroup is a technology provider, helping carriers and independent intermediaries. If anything, we would be great partners”.
